What you need to know about XDC Network (XDC)
XDC Network is an EVM-compatible layer-one blockchain using XinFin Delegated Proof of Stake, or XDPoS 2.0, and oriented toward trade finance, real-world asset tokenization, payments, and enterprise applications. Its native coin is XDC and pays gas, supports masternode operation, and transfers value. The slug xdce-crowd-sale is a historical CoinGecko ID from the crowd-sale period and does not mean this profile covers the old XDCE token. XDCE was an ERC-20 proxy token used to swap into mainnet XDC; an official XDC document states that the contract has been retired and native XDC is the platform's current asset.
What it is used for
XDC is required for transfers, contract calls, and other mainnet computation, as well as collateral and delegation in the masternode and standby-node system. EVM compatibility lets applications use familiar Solidity tools, while specialized network solutions support tokenization, settlement, and enterprise subnets. Utility should be checked through paid transactions and contract calls, the volume of natively issued RWA and stablecoins, public-mainnet activity, masternode distribution, and staked supply. A private or external integration has limited significance for XDC if operations are not anchored to mainnet and do not require native-coin gas.
What can move the price
- Growth in transfers, token issuance, and smart-contract execution creates direct operational demand for XDC as gas. Because individual network fees are very low, a material price connection requires large sustained volume and working balances held by applications. A partnership announcement or large RWA alone is no substitute for evidence of fees actually paid.
- Masternode and standby operators lock substantial XDC collateral, while holders can delegate coins and share rewards. Growth and more even distribution of economically meaningful stake reduce free supply and strengthen security; node shutdowns, returned collateral, or concentration among a few operators work in the opposite direction.
- Real adoption of XDC Network in trade finance, RWA, cross-border payments, and DeFi can increase demand for public settlement and native liquidity. The effect on XDC is stronger when assets are issued and moved on mainnet, applications maintain gas balances, and users perform repeat operations, rather than when an enterprise subnet operates almost autonomously.
Key risks
- XDPoS concentrates block production among a limited set of selected masternodes, while the large collateral requirement for an independent node raises the barrier to entry. Concentrated delegation, coordination among large operators, or simultaneous technical failures can weaken decentralization and resilience. High throughput alone does not offset insufficiently distributed economic control.
- XDC has no hard maximum supply: masternode rewards and other subsidies add coins, fees may be burned, and large team and ecosystem reserves enter under their own schedules. Holders must consider the net balance among issuance, burning, staking, and unlocks. Nominal node or delegation yield can partly represent dilution rather than new external income.
- The historical coexistence of XDCE and XDC creates technical risk when selecting a network for deposits, withdrawals, or self-custody. Native XDC, the old ERC-20 XDCE, and XRC-20 tokens are not interchangeable merely because their labels are similar. Sending through an unsupported route or following outdated instructions can make funds inaccessible, so the mainnet, chain ID, and address format must be checked with the specific service.
What makes it different
XDC Network combines EVM compatibility with XDPoS and infrastructure focused on trade finance, RWA, and enterprise subnets. Unlike Stable, where USDT0 is the gas asset, ordinary fees here are paid with the native XDC coin itself. Unlike Provenance and its specialized Cosmos ledger, registry, and exchange modules, XDC builds financial applications primarily around EVM and enterprise infrastructure. This eases migration of Solidity applications and organizational integrations, but XDC value depends on those connections becoming paid public-mainnet activity. The legacy slug should be retained only as a technical page identifier, not as the name of the current token.

What to check before using XDC Network
A coin price is meaningful only in context: liquidity, trading volume, volatility, market capitalisation and the venues where the asset actually trades.
